UPDATE – Ferries during COVID-19 outbreak: Same schedule, more cleaning – UPDATE

A message from SAN FRANCISCO BAY FERRY BAYALERTS

WETA and San Francisco Bay Ferry’s priority is the health and safety of its passengers and crews. As such, WETA staff is in ongoing communication with the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management (DEM), the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and other local and regional health and emergency management agencies to ensure critical information sharing and appropriate measures are being implemented in response to the spread of COVID-19 or coronavirus.
Blue & Gold Fleet is the contract operator for WETA’s San Francisco Bay Ferry service. In coordination with WETA, Blue & Gold Fleet has made additional hand sanitizer available to passengers on all vessels and has implemented additional cleaning of frequently touched surfaces on the vessels and at ferry terminals. All vessels are undergoing full disinfectant fogging twice a week. Blue & Gold Fleet is providing crews with the tools and information they need to perform their work in a safe manner given concerns over coronavirus in the Bay Area. Crews are being directed to stay home if they are sick, consistent with usual practices during flu season.
Please refer to information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on prevention and treatment. The most important factor in preventing the spread of coronavirus is to avoid direct contact with people who are sick and to wash your hands frequently.
While ridership has dropped significantly as many in the Bay Area stay home, WETA is committed to maintaining normal San Francisco Bay Ferry service levels as long as possible to ensure people who need transit have access to it and in consideration that lower ridership allows passengers to practice safe social distancing aboard the ferries. If circumstances such as crew shortages change the situation, passengers will be notified via BayAlert and social media.
Note that due to event cancellations, postponements and relocations, San Francisco Bay Ferry service to Chase Center and Oracle Park is currently suspended indefinitely. If you have already purchased ferry tickets for any Warriors games remaining this season, concerts at Chase Center through the end of March or Giants games in March or the first two weeks of April, please contact our Box Office at 415-705-8214 so that we can process your refund. Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed from 12-1 p.m.).
Thank you for riding San Francisco Bay Ferry. Stay healthy and safe.
