WETA/San Francisco Bay Ferry Statement on Coronavirus

WETA and San Francisco Bay Ferry’s priority is the health and safety of its passengers and crews. As such, WETA staff is in ongoing communication with the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management (DEM), the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and other local and regional health and emergency management agencies to ensure critical information sharing and appropriate measures are being implemented in response to the spread of COVID-19 or coronavirus.
Blue & Gold Fleet is the contract operator for WETA’s San Francisco Bay Ferry service. In coordination with WETA, Blue & Gold Fleet has made additional hand sanitizer available to passengers on all vessels and has implemented additional cleaning of frequently touched surfaces on the vessels and at ferry terminals. Blue & Gold Fleet is providing crews with the tools and information they need to perform their work in a safe manner given concerns over coronavirus in the Bay Area. Crews are being directed to stay home if they are sick, consistent with usual practices during flu season.
Please refer to information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on prevention and treatment. The most important factor in preventing the spread of coronavirus is to avoid direct contact with people who are sick and to wash your hands frequently.
